The source stated that the NJC plenary would conclude the ratification of the successful candidates’ names, which would then be promptly forwarded to President Tinubu. The screening process, conducted by the interview committee headed by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is in adherence to NJC guidelines for Supreme Court Justice appointments.

The NJC’s procedure entails the Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission/Committee creating a provisional shortlist based on merit, which must be twice the number of judicial officers intended for appointment.

This provisional list is circulated for comments on the suitability of candidates before being forwarded to the NJC for consideration. The successful candidates undergo an NJC interview, and their names are sent to the President.
