Why President Tinubu’s Certificate Shows ‘F’ for Female: Lawyer Explains

President Bola Tinubu’s lawyer, Wole Afolabi, recently explained why the President’s certificate indicates ‘F,’ which typically stands for female. During an interview on Channels TV, Afolabi revealed that the mix-up occurred at Chicago State University (CSU).

Afolabi clarified that the transcript provided by Southwest College showed the ‘F,’ but all other information matched President Tinubu’s details.

The confusion arose because the person who applied to the school had mistakenly checked the box for male instead of female. Consequently, the admission letter was issued to Mr. Tinubu with the wrong gender designation.

When questioned about the discrepancies in signatures on the certificate, Afolabi explained that certificates were not issued immediately upon graduation. They were typically requested later. Therefore, the person who issued the certificate submitted to INEC might not have been at the university in 1979 when President Tinubu graduated. This mix-up, according to Afolabi, is not uncommon in universities.
