This development follows the earlier rejection of President Bola Tinubu’s N25,000 provisional wage increment for low-grade workers by organized labour, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). During a meeting with government officials, organized labour had advocated for a 100 per cent wage increase.

President Tinubu, in a nationwide broadcast on Sunday, initially stated that the increment would specifically benefit lower-level civil servants. However, in this recent announcement, it has been clarified that the increment will now apply to all levels of civil servants.

President Bola Tinubu’s administration has announced a significant expansion of the N25,000 provisional wage increment, making it applicable to civil servants at all levels in Nigeria. This update comes after discussions with organized labour and aims to address the wage concerns of a broader spectrum of the civil service workforce.
