"Nigerian Bar Association President Honors Medical Team in Grand Dinner Celebration"

Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau OON, SAN, the esteemed President of the Nigerian Bar Association, recently hosted a delightful dinner party to express his heartfelt gratitude and celebrate the dedicated medical professionals who generously devoted their time and expertise to the successful Medical Outreach program. This remarkable initiative, sponsored by the Kebbi State government, was prominently featured during the 2023 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association.

President Maikyau emphasized that the entire expenses incurred throughout the Outreach were generously covered by the Kebbi State government, showcasing their unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare in the region. A highlight of this international endeavour was the participation of a medical team from the United States of America, who brought along invaluable medical supplies worth millions of dollars, including life-saving drugs and advanced surgical instruments. The Medical Outreach achieved monumental success, with over a hundred surgeries conducted seamlessly and more than a thousand non-surgical medical cases expertly addressed. Mr. Maikyau took a moment to commend the outstanding efforts of the medical personnel, with special mention of Mrs. Micky, whom he affectionately referred to as his “mum.” Despite her advanced age, Mrs Micky displayed unparalleled dedication and compassion by joining the mission to support fellow Nigerians in need.

The Legal Attorney Blog reported that individuals from various corners of the state journeyed to participate in the program, seeking solutions to a myriad of medical challenges. In his closing remarks, the NBA President expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State and the accompanying delegation, who paid a courtesy visit to the NBA secretariat. A significant moment during the Outreach was the hospital visitation on Thursday, September 7th, 2023. President Maikyau, joined by the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, embarked on a touching tour of the hospital, personally connecting with beneficiaries of the Medical Outreach who were admitted to various wards. The evening concluded with a delightful dinner featuring an array of delectable dishes, accompanied by the enchanting tunes of a musical band that got the invited medical team dancing with joy.
