Leaders of Jama’atul Nasril Islam JNI and the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN in Nasarawa State have called on their followers to be loyal and resist any attempt by politicians to use them to cause any crisis during the elections.
Secretary of JNI Imam Muhammad Ali and CAN Chairman in the State, Reverend Sunday Emma, called during a joint press briefing after an emergency meeting in Government House Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

The religious leaders stated that they had resolved to work closely with traditional rulers and security agencies to identify any of their members whose activities could truncate the peace before and after the Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Governor Abdullahi Sule, in a remark, said the emergency meeting followed some videos trending in social media a few days after the presidential and national assembly elections that could incite followers of the two religions against one another if immediate action was not taken.
The Governor noted that Nasarawa state is one of the most peaceful in the country, which is not known for religious disaffection, and called on the leaders to be the vanguard of peace and consider the state first before anything else.
