Civil Society Group warns against election challenges.

The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room wants the challenges experienced in the Presidential and National Assembly elections not to repeat themselves in Saturday’s Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.

The Co-convener of the Situation Room, Mrs ENE OBI, at a news briefing in Abuja on the re-convergence of the Election Monitoring Hub, said there was a need for the electoral body to be accountable to the people.

Mrs Obi said the Monitoring Hub would deploy two thousand three hundred and forty observers across the 36 states in the country with a hundred thirty-one persons with disability.

She said the Monitoring Hub, which would serve as a data collection centre, would also analyse and disseminate the data through timely press releases.

Mrs OBI expressed concern over the spate of violence in some areas and called for the protection of the citizens by law enforcement agencies and prosecuting perpetrators.

The Co-Convener of the Situation Room urged the electorate to turn out en masse for the exercise to give the needed impetus for the political and economic development of the rural areas.
