PDP Commends Tribunal Rulings Upholding Bauchi and Enugu Governorship Victories

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed its elation over the recent governorship tribunal rulings in Bauchi and Enugu States, which upheld the victories of its candidates. In the Enugu State Governorship Election Tribunal, Governor Peter Mbah’s victory in the March 18, 2023, governorship election was upheld. The tribunal, chaired by Justice Kudirat Akano, dismissed allegations made by Hon. Chijioke Edeoga of the LP, who claimed that Governor Peter Mbah’s NYSC discharge certificate was forged.

The tribunal ruled that Governor Mbah did not need to submit his NYSC certificate to INEC to qualify for the governorship position, as he was already eligible without it. Furthermore, the tribunal rejected Edeoga’s witnesses, stating that the LP governorship candidate failed to present any admissible evidence to prove the governor’s certificate was forged.

Likewise, the Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal upheld the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed of the PDP in the March 18th governorship election in the state. The three-man panel, chaired by Justice P.T Kwahar, delivered the judgment, affirming that there were no substantial reasons to nullify the election, as it complied with the law.

Reacting to these tribunal rulings, the PDP expressed its satisfaction, stating that the judges’ decisions reflect the trust and confidence that the people of Enugu and Bauchi have in the party. The PDP’s statement conveyed its commendation for the verdicts and highlighted them as a testament to the people’s unwavering support for the party in both states and across Nigeria.
