Ebony State Presidential and National Assembly: Election
Presidential and National Assembly Elections in Ebonyi State witnessed a massive turnout of
voters as they converged at various polling units to cast their ballots.
Radio Nigeria observed that voting commenced by 9am in some of the polling units visited
while materials arrived in others by 9:30am.

At Polling Unit 007, St Patrick Kpirikpiri, some voters were seen casting their votes while
others complained that BIVAS failed to capture their biometrics.
It was also observed that the INEC officials came with one BIVAS encoded with voters
whose names start with A to N alphabets.

The situation was more confusing as the names of those affected were seen in the voter
register but were asked to look for their polling booth, which was not sighted within the
vicinity.

They called on INEC to resolve the matter by providing them with BIVAS encoded with their
data to enable them to cast their votes. Also, at Polling Unit 005 Kpirikpiri, many voters were
seen in the queue casting their votes.

In a unanimous judgment Tuesday, delivered by the five-man panel led by Justice John Inyang
Okoro, the Apex court threw out the suit for lacking in merit and affirmed Senator Sam Egwu
as the Ebonyi North Senatorial Candidate in the 2023 general election.
