JUNGLE JUSTICE: Ondo Govt Sets Up Mobile Court To Try Offenders

The Ondo state government has frowned against the act of jungle justice allegedly perpetrated by motorcyclists in the state.

The Acting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, stated the government’s position during an emergency meeting with okada riders and tricyclics on the recent killing of an alleged Yahoo boy, Temitope Oluwafemi, at Rijeka in Akure.

Mr Ayedatiwa, who read the Riot Act to the okada riders, restated that a mobile court had also been approved to prosecute offenders caught in such an act.

Mr Aiyedatiwa, who led other top government functionaries to the meeting, described the recent mob action against the 35-year-old Temitope as barbaric and inhumane.

In their contributions, the Secretary to the state government, Princess Oladunni Odu and Chairman Akure South, Gbenga Olaniyi, advised the okada riders to always obey all traffic regulations to avoid unnecessary faceoffs.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Akeredolu on special duties and strategy, Dr Doyin Odebowale, warned against gathering and lynching motorists in cases of accidents.
