In a significant breakthrough, troops from the 93 Battalion under 6 Bridget of the Nigerian Army have apprehended a suspected female kidnapper, identified as Janet Igohia, in Taraba State. The 31-year-old suspect believed to be married to the second-in-command to the late Hana Terwase, was arrested while attempting to collect ransom for an abducted victim in the Chanchangi area of Takum LGA.
According to Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, the army spokesperson, the arrest took place following the interception of a ransom payment amounting to N1.5 million. Igohia, reportedly married to a leader of a violent extremist group in southern Taraba, confessed to previous marriages with high-profile criminals, including the late Terkibi Gemaga and the late Gana Terwase.
Additionally, troops also captured a notorious gunrunner, identified as Joshua Dutse Idah, who was allegedly involved in supplying arms and ammunition to criminals within Taraba State and other parts of the country. The 45-year-old suspect was intercepted in Ibbi town of Ibbi Local Government Area while en route to Kaduna State, driving a blue Volkswagen Sharon vehicle with registration number Rivers SKN-390AA.
Upon interrogation, Dutse confessed to intending to transport AK-47 rifles to Katsina State, having already received a partial payment of N300,000.
