In a display of respect and solidarity, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau OON, SAN, embarked on a series of courtesy visits today, accompanied by esteemed senior elders of the bar. The journey commenced in the capital city of Abuja, where the president chartered a private jet to Asaba, Delta State.
Among notable figures who joined President Maikyau on this significant trip were the Past President of the NBA and Member of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Augustine Alegeh, CON, SAN. Also present was Elder Steve Adehi, SAN, Chairman of the NBA Bureau of Employment, and Mrs Chinaecherem Nwaubani, the Personal Executive Secretary to the NBA President. The delegation further included Mr. Kazeem Nasir, Director of Protocol and Special Duties, and Mr. Emeka Ibe, the Official Photographer to the President.
The primary purpose of the visit was to pay homage and extend heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Chief George Uwechue, SAN, FNIALS, the Past Chairman of the Body of Benchers and the Owelle of Ogwuashi-Uku. The delegation paid their respects to the distinguished legal luminary, reflecting on his impactful contributions to the legal profession.
Later in the afternoon, the group boarded the same private jet to Benin, where they attended the service of songs for the late Dr. Kolawole Shola Okeaya-Inneh, SAN. The atmosphere was sombre yet filled with memories and tributes as the legal fraternity mourned the passing of another eminent figure.
The NBA President, surrounded by his esteemed colleagues, emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity within the legal community during these challenging times.
