NBA President Commends UNICAL's Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Competition Champions.

Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, warmly received a delegation of accomplished law students from the University of Calabar, showcasing his commitment to his manifesto’s campaign promises.

The students, including Omma-Agbon Musa Zaiki, Richard Felix Uche, and Victory Akpoiroro, accompanied by their coach, Ms. Uruegi Anne Agi, achieved remarkable success in the 32nd Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition, becoming African Regional Champions and advancing to the global rounds, securing a spot as semi-finalists in Baku, Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, President Maikyau congratulated the students for their exemplary performance, acknowledging their dedication, unwavering commitment, and tenacity. He emphasized the pivotal role of nurturing young legal minds, recognizing their representation of Nigeria and the entire African continent as a testament to the nation’s legal prowess.

Expressions of gratitude from the triumphant team included Omma-Agbon Musa conferring the honorary title of ‘Grand Patron of ILSA-UCC’ and a Golden Medal upon the NBA President. Richard Chikeziri Felix-Uche presented souvenirs from Baku, Azerbaijan, demonstrating appreciation for the NBA’s support. Victory Akpoiroro presented the team’s award as semi-finalists to President Maikyau, symbolizing their remarkable achievement.

Acknowledging the indispensable role of their coach, Barrister Anne Agi, in the team’s success, President Maikyau concluded the meeting by emphasizing the significance of the team’s passion for space law and encouraging their continued dedication in this emerging legal field. He presented gifts to the team, pledging ongoing support and motivation for their future endeavours.

The visit exemplified President Maikyau’s dedication to nurturing young legal talents and promoting legal education in alignment with his promise of legal education reform and advancement in Nigeria. The Nigerian Bar Association, under his leadership, remains committed to fostering the growth of legal professionals and upholding the standards of legal education in the country.
