Nigeria Police ‘Engage In Shootout With Armed Robbers Operating In Tricycle In Anambra, Arrest Two With Gunshot Wounds’

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement on Friday, said the operatives intercepted the three-man armed robbery gang in Obosi area of the state on Thursday while on patrol at about 11.30 hours.

Operatives of Nigeria Police Force, Anambra State Command have announced the arrest of two armed robbers operating in a tricycle (popularly called Keke Marwa) and recovered two guns.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement on Friday, said the operatives intercepted the three-man armed robbery gang in Obosi area of the state on Thursday while on patrol at about 11.30 hours.

According to Ikenga, the robbers who operated in a tricycle around Littlewood Estate engaged police operatives in a gun duel but “bowed to the superior firepower of the operatives who arrested two of them with gunshot wounds”.

“Two Berretta pistols and two rounds of ammunition were recovered from the hoodlums. The third suspect managed to escape,” he said.

The police spokesperson identified the arrested suspects as Amaechi Precious from Obosi and Almazer Avalumo from Adikpo in Benue State.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye has charged police officers to sustain the fight against criminal elements wherever they may be lurking.
