Slain Oyo Hotelier’s family demands justice.

The family of the late hotelier and owner of Tana Farms Limited, Olugbenga Owolabi, has demanded justice for him.

This is coming about one year after Olugbenga and a worker at his hotel, Rachael Opadele, were abducted by gunmen at Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and killed by their abductors on August 2.

Olugbenga, a United States American citizen, resided in Maryland before investing in the hospitality business in his hometown, Ogbomoso.

Legal Attorney Blog gathered that his hotel was opened in December 2021 as he was abducted and killed some months afterwards.

In a statement to commemorate the anniversary of his death, the deceased’s brother, Joshua Owolabi, called on the Oyo State Police Command to get the suspects.

He said, “Today, we remember with sadness the first anniversary of the kidnapping of our son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, friend, and businessperson, Mr Olugbenga David Owolabi of Tana Suites and Tana Farms Ltd.

“Olugbenga, along with his student-worker, Miss Rachael Opadele, of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, and his motorcycle service provider, Mr Idowu Agbaje, were on August 2, 2022, murdered after they were kidnapped and tortured for five days.

“Although we note from The PUNCH’s report of December 23 2022, that the Oyo State Police Command arrested three men of Fulani extraction from the same family, who were allegedly responsible for the kidnapping, torture, and killings, and other members of the syndicate involved in the sharing of the ransom, we the families and friends of the victims, in Nigeria, and in the diaspora, have yet to learn of any further details about the case involving the alleged suspects.

“We must demand justice for the tragic death of these three persons and others in the hands of these non-state actors.

Thus, we demand that the Oyo State Police Command lead the way and pursue justice on behalf of these men and women of our pacesetter state whose lives were cut short needlessly by these non-state actors of record.”
