Isiokpo Branch Chairman, Dr Cashmir Ofurum, disagrees with Nnenda Promise Okitche over Cheque Issuance. The branch leader and some members assaulted the Rivers State Branch Treasurer in Isiokpo.

The treasurer, whose responsibility includes financial record-keeping, faced a problematic ordeal after the branch chairman demanded a 1-million-naira cheque from her without proper documentation.

According to reports, the treasurer insisted on obtaining the necessary application for the cheque to maintain proper records, as required by her position.

This reasonable request inflamed the chairman and other executive members, who indicted her for raising unnecessary bureaucracy. They vehemently swore that she would not be allowed to leave with the cheque. Regrettably, the situation escalated, resulting in a fierce attack against the treasurer.

Attempts to reach the branch chairman for comment have been fruitless, as calls to his phone have gone unanswered and were not returned.

This incident has raised concerns about the professional conduct and ethical standards within the Isiokpo NBA branch and the need for accountability and respect among colleagues within the legal profession.
