FCTA Rewards Poetry Contest Winners.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has rewarded three winners of the “Abuja @ 47 poetry competition” with various prizes.

The FCTA Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola, who presented the prizes to the winners, said the contest was one of the ways to engage the youths and enhance their creativity while creating a platform for the unification of all children.

Mr Adesola noted that the administration will continue exploring ways of using innovation to build the Abuja dream, ensuring that the city becomes habitable and secure for all. He added that there was enormous talent in poetry, and harnessing it for FCT and national development was significant.

He said, “As a government, we recognize the importance of supporting and promoting the arts and the creative industry. I do not need to start telling you about the importance of arts, but suffice it to say arts help us express our humanity, showcase our talents, and connect with others in ways that enrich our lives.”

Earlier, the Acting Director Department of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Dr Jumai Ahmadu, said the three winners were selected from 30 entries received from applicants.

She explained that the participants were required to write stories and share online videos that best represent what Abuja stands for. The overall winner got a Laptop, the 2nd got Smart Phone Tablet, and the 3rd position got a smartphone.

In a vote of thanks, the overall poetry competition winner, Mr Gabriel Oche Clement, who thanked the FCT Administration for organizing the contest, noted that the unification and different languages in the FCT were paramount.

” I am beyond blessed and humbled to be among these great personalities.
