Scores Homeless As Rainfall Destroys Houses In Ekiti

Downpour has rendered many people homeless in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Some areas affected were ijadu Olorunda, Olorunsogo and Isato areas of Ado Ekiti. At the same time, houses, roofing, fences and electricity poles were pulled down during the downpour, which lasted almost one hour.

One of the victims, Mr Johnson Adeola of ijadu Ado Ekiti, whose house was pulled down by the downpour, appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji to come to his aid, saying there was no place to keep his family.

Also, another resident of Olorunsogo Zone thirteen, Ado Ekiti, Mrs Bukola Ajisafe, called on the state government to help dredge the river in the area to give room for the free flow of water.

She explained that the area was flooded during the rain, preventing residents from gaining access to their homes and urged the state government to help construct the bridge that links the community with other people.
