We are delighted to announce the speakers for our upcoming 4th Annual General Conference and International Women’s Day Event happening live in Lagos on Thursday 21st & Friday 22nd March 2024, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria with the theme ‘Beyond the Balance Sheet: Redefining Success for Women in Law’.In our Sixth Plenary Session themed, ‘Defining Success for Female Lawyers- Navigating the Path to Career Success, we have Hon. Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye, Prof. Oluyemisi Bamgbose SAN, Bidemi Ademola, and Folashade Alli SAN as the speakers.

Honourable Justice Oluwatoyin Atinuke Ipaye: Justice of the High Court of Lagos. She was elevated to the High Court Bench of the Lagos State Judiciary in May 2001. She has adjudicated cases in all the Divisions of the High Court Bench and was at various times an ADR Judge, an EFCC Designate Judge and a Backlog Elimination Judge. Justice Olutoyin Atinuke Ipaye was a pioneer Council member of the international award-winning Lagos Multidoor Courthouse (LMDC).

She is not only a world-class jurist in the busiest and largest judiciary in Nigeria, but she is also an internationally accredited mediator at the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) UK (2013). Professor Oluyemisi Bamgbose SAN: Professor of Law, University of Ibadan is a Professor of Criminal Law, Criminology and Human Rights. She is presently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Before her appointment as Deputy Vice- Chancellor, she served two terms as a member of the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan, the highest decision-making body in the University system. She is the first Female Professor of Law in Nigeria to be conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in September, 2018. She is the immediate past Chairperson of the NBA Women Forum. She served between September 2019 and August 2022Folashade Alli SAN: She is the Principal Partner, Folashade Alli and Partners which specializes in corporate and commercial law. She is an internationally acclaimed lawyer based in Lagos, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, a Fellow, and a Chartered Arbitrator. which specializes in corporate and commercial law. Maintains an active involvement in the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK, where she serves as a member of the institute’s Professional Conduct Committee. She is a member of the Institute of Directors, and she holds various leadership positions within the Nigerian Bar Association. An advocate for Women’s Rights, she drafted the Nigerian Bar Association-Women’s Forum Sexual Harassment Policy which was adopted by the Nigerian Bar Association. She has published papers on various aspects of law and has delivered presentations across various prominent international platforms.Bidemi Ademola, Legal Director/Company Secretary, Guinness Nigeria PlcShe is an Executive Corporate Counsel, Governance Professional and Business Leader with niche experience spanning over 27 years of Corporate-Commercial Law and Governance practice in Nigeria and West Africa. Passionately driven by a personal purpose to build a lasting legacy by shaping capability in Governance, Risk and Compliance, her forte is to proactively identify legal, regulatory, compliance and corporate governance risks to business and develop innovative mitigation to enable seamless business operations and sustainability.The Panel will be moderated by Grace Adikema-Ajaegbo She is an Assistant Director at the Rivers State House of Assembly, where she works in the Legal Services Department. She holds a PhD in International Law and Human Rights from the Rivers State University. She devotes extensive time and resources to advocating for justice and human rights for women and children. She also dedicates time to her assignment as the Head of the Public Sector Committee of the Nigeria Bar Association Women Forum. She has been the Assistant Coordinator and Financial Secretary, respectively for African Women Lawyers. She currently serves as the Public Relations Officer of the African Women Lawyers Association in Nigeria. Session will reflect on the various legal careers for female lawyers at the bench, bar, in-house counsel, academics and public sector. It will address pivotal aspects such as professional development, gender dynamics and broader societal issues surrounding women in the profession.
