Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Drags Anambra Community Leader to Court, Demands N50 Billion for Defamation
Kindly share this story:
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the legal representative of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has taken Vincent Dike, the President-General of Oraifite Improvement Union in Anambra State, to a Federal Capital Territory High Court over alleged defamation.
In suit number CV/1224/24, Ejiofor has challenged Dike for defamatory statements against him and is demanding N50 billion in damages.
The lawsuit stems from remarks made by Dike during a press conference on February 4, 2024, where he allegedly made false and injurious comments about Ejiofor. These remarks were widely circulated and read by Ejiofor’s professional colleagues, friends, clients, associates, religious leaders, and family members.
In response, Ejiofor’s solicitors notified Dike to immediately retract the defamatory publications via his known telephone/WhatsApp number, which Dike duly received.
Ejiofor seeks several reliefs from the court, including a directive for Dike to publish a full retraction of the defamatory publication in at least three national dailies with nationwide and global circulation. Additionally, he demands an explicit apology from Dike in the same newspapers and a written undertaking from Dike promising not to publish any further libellous statements about him.
This legal action underscores the seriousness with which Ejiofor is pursuing redress for the alleged defamation, highlighting the importance of maintaining integrity and accountability in public statements.
