Dino Melaye Refuses to Vote, Alleges Irregularities in Kogi Election

Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the Kogi State election, opted not to cast his vote, citing alleged irregularities in the electoral process. Melaye was expected to vote at Iluafon quarters, Aiyetoro 1, Ijumu Local Government Area, but failed to appear at his polling unit.
Journalists gathered at Melaye’s residence as he addressed the press, highlighting his concerns about the conduct of the election.

The former Kogi West senatorial district lawmaker demanded the cancellation of results in five local government areas: Okene, Okehi, Ajaoukuta, Adavi, and Ogori/Mangogo.

In a post on his X platform account, Melaye characterized the election in the mentioned local government areas as a coordinated scam by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He emphasized the need for INEC to annul the results from these areas, alleging irregularities orchestrated at the highest level of the electoral commission.
