The ministerial nominee from Kano state, Maryam Shetty, was withdrawn from the list.

It was reported that President Tinubu addressed a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, announcing the replacement of Maryam Shetty with Mairiga Mahmud.

President Tinubu also nominated former Minister of State for Labour and Employment Festus Keyamo as minister.

Speaking about the swap, Shetty said: “I was just informed now at today’s plenary session that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu has withdrawn my ministerial nomination and replaced her with Dr Mairiga Mahmud.

“I’m grateful and thankful for any decision from you, My President! I felicitate with Dr Mariya Mairiga Mahmud.

“I thank the leader of our party, Abdullahi Ganduje, for his fatherly disposition and democratic stance that set the stage for a free and transparent contestation devoid of institutional bias, favouritism, or imposition of any kind,” she tweeted.

In a heartfelt video posted on Twitter on Wednesday night, Maryam Shetty was captured on her prayer mat. She received a call before commencing her prayer, where she expressed her gratitude to President Tinubu for her nomination, describing him as “patriotic”.

The video was shared with the caption, “A Ministerial Nominee from Kano State, Dr @maryamshetty goes into sujud to Thank Almighty Allah immediately after her announcement as Ministerial nominee from Kano State. Northern Youths are well-represented here. Thank you, President Tinubu”.

The announcement of her replacement has garnered attention from supporters who have commended her reaction and expressed their wishes for a better appointment for her in the future.
