There was apprehension in many parts of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Friday when the body of a young nurse was discovered without a womb after she allegedly went for a night outing.

The nurse, identified as Omoniyi Boluwatife, was found dead, and her body was evacuated by the police.

According to reports, Boluwatife, a Lead City University graduate, was inducted on Tuesday into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

In a viral video, the remains of Boluwatife were seen on the floor.

A source who preferred to be anonymous had told PUNCH Metro that before the night the incident happened, Boluwatife accompanied her mother to the motor park after she travelled from Port Harcourt to join her in the celebration.

The source added, “Boluwatife was a member of my church. In fact, she testified about her graduation last Sunday after she cleared the carry-over course delaying her graduation. She was gentle, and to hear the news of her death broke me.”

Reacting to the news of her death, the club where she reportedly went, Copacabana, denied that the incident happened within its premises, adding that its management would not take responsibility for incidents outside its premises.

A press statement on Friday said, “It saddens our heart to hear about the tragic event that happened to some customers after leaving our facility. However, as a nightclub, we cannot take responsibility for incidents outside our premises, although our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

Meanwhile, efforts to reach the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso, proved abortive as calls and messages to his mobile telephone were neither answered nor replied to as of press time.

City Round gathered that the incident caused some apprehension among the state’s people and beyond, as many wondered what could have happened to the deceased. Some others mourned her passing as they lamented that the incident simply brought her efforts to an abrupt end.
