Nigeria Police ‘Launch Manhunt For Gunmen’ Who Attacked Enugu Police Station, Carted Away Arms, Ammunition

Gunmen attacked the Isi-Uzo Divisional Police Station located along Nsukka – Ikem – Eha-Amufu – Nkalagu federal highway and carted away arms and ammunition.

The police in Enugu, southeast Nigerian say they have launched a manhunt for armed hoodlums who attacked its division in Ikem in the Isi-Uzo local government area of the state on Wednesday.

Gunmen attacked the Isi-Uzo Divisional Police Station located along Nsukka – Ikem – Eha-Amufu – Nkalagu federal highway and carted away arms and ammunition.

The hoodlums stormed the station around 4:30 am on Wednesday morning shot and injured some policemen on duty while others fled.

Providing an update on the matter to SaharaReporters, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe said the tactical police operatives of the Command were on the trail of the armed hoodlums.

Ndukwe said they were suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Networks (ESN), the militant wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to him, the hoodlums were repelled by the police operatives on duty.

“Many of the miscreants escaped with gunshot wounds, while one of the operatives who sustained gunshot wounds is receiving treatment and in stable condition,” he said.

He, however, promised to update Nigerians on any further development regarding the issue.
