Taraba APC Crisis: EXCOs Calls For Immediate Arrest Of Former Chairman, El-Sudi

The leadership of the Taraba State All Progressives Congress APC has called on the security operatives to urgently arrest the state’s former Chairman of the party, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, for alleged impersonation.

Hon. James Amadu, who is Acting as the party’s Chairman, made the call on behalf of the EXCO at a press conference held on Friday, April 28th, 2023, in Jalingo.

He said the press briefing was aimed at responding to the purported expulsion of one of the party’s chieftains in the state, Chief David Sabo Kente, and the Senator-elect for the Southern Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections, Hon. David Jimkuta, from the party by the former state chairman, El-Sudi.

Amadu explained that the EXCO and other party members in the state did not receive the pronouncement by El-Sudi at the press briefing in Jalingo with rude shock but with utmost disappointment.

“El-Sudi has consistently shown a rather shallow understanding of the party’s working,” he added.

The acting Chairman recalled that on February 10th, 2023, Barr. Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi was legally removed from office as Chairman by a two/third of majority of the state working committee through a vote of no confidence, and it was communicated to and acknowledged by the National Working Committee of the party.

“Ibrahim El-Sudi stands removed as the Chairman of the party in Taraba State and has no legal standing to act in that capacity, and it was after his legal removal that I, Hon. James Amadu, the former Deputy State Chairman of the party, unanimously and legally endorsed as the Acting Chairman,” Amadu emphasized.

He revealed that only the Ward Party Chairman, with Two/Third of EXCO members, can expel or suspend any member and that no State Party Chairman has the power to do so as enshrined in the APC Constitution.

Hon. James Amadu described the actions of Barr. Tukur El-Sudi as an act of desperation, alleging that he is acting the script of his paymasters in trying to retain relevance in the system after plunging the party to a colossal loss in the just concluded elections.

He noted that Chief David Sabo Kente and Hon. David Jimkuta used their resources and organized the only APC mega rally for the state Presidential campaign for Tinubu/Shettima.

Meanwhile, according to the state APC Acting Chairman, Hon. James Amadu, Chief David Sabo Kente, and the Senator-elect for Taraba South, Hon. David Jimkuta, remain members of the party in Taraba State, adding that Jimkuta is also the state leader of the party in waiting, in line with the provision of the APC Constitution.

The party’s leadership in the state further called on the National body under the supervision of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu to expediently call El-Sudi to order before he creates irreparable confusion in the party.

When contacted by telephone, Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi denied being removed as the party’s state Chairman, challenging that they prove that seventy people (70) of the EXCO, which Two/Third have released him.

“Secondly, the zonal executives’ council of the APC had ratified that I am the substantive Chairman of the party since the investigation of their allegations of which I complained that they did not give me a fair hearing. Nobody confronts me with any allegation or talks less of removing me. So, I am still the substantive Chairman as far as the National and Zonal secretariats are concerned,” El-Sudi emphasized.
