The Nigerian Labour Congress Elects New Executives: Zamfara

Zamfara Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) held its 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference 2023, where new executive offices to manage the affairs of the NLC in the next four years emerged.

Announcing the election result, the National Officer who supervised the election, comrade Kabiru Yahaya, said the election was free, fair, credible and conducted most transparently.

Yahaya, the President of Nigeria Union of Aviation, said Sani Halliru emerged as the Chairperson of the NLC Zamfara State chapter with 24 votes from the 34 registered affiliate unions.

The position of Vice Chairman was the twenties to Sanusi Isah and Abubakar Abdullahi, who returned unopposed, while Maikano Sani Maru was elected treasurer with 22 votes against his opponent.

According to him, AbdulNasir Danbabs won the seat of Auditor One with 22 votes, and Sani Abubakar emerged as Auditor Two with 21. While the office of Ex-office one and two goes to Fatima Habibu and Kulu Garba, who also returned unopposed.

Yahayya equally administered the oath of office to newly elected leaders of the NLC Zamfara state chapter and charged the elected officers to work as a team and carry all along to move forward.

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairperson of the chapter, Mr Sani Haliru, promised to take the issue of minimum wage, the Contributory Health Scheme of state workers and the contributory pension scheme as a priority of his administration.

He said, “We are much aware of the worker’s challenges in the state, and the new set of leadership is determined to change the status.”

He called on members to support and advised the leadership were necessary to enable them to excel.
