“Lagos Police Confirm Completion of Mohbad’s Corpse Exhumation as Autopsy Begins”

The Lagos State Police Command has officially announced the successful completion of the Exhumation of the late singer and songwriter Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad. This development comes after the joint effort of the police and health officials, who began the exhumation process earlier.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the completion of the Exhumation while providing details during a conversation with our correspondent.

He stated, “The exhumation process has been successfully carried out. We had a team of health officials from the state Ministry of Health led by CP Owohunwa on site. Furthermore, CP Owohunwa is scheduled to visit Mohbad’s father later today.”

Subsequently, the Lagos Police PRO took to his official Twitter account to announce, “Exhumation completed. An autopsy is to commence. #JusticeForMohad #Justice4Mohbad.”

It can be recalled that the 27-year-old singer, Mohbad, passed away on the 12th of September 2023 and was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State, the following day. His demise led to a flurry of reactions nationwide, with many Nigerians pointing fingers at his former boss, Naira Marley, and music promoter, Sam Larry, as potential factors in his death.

These allegations ignited a demand for justice, prompting protests and calls for action across Lagos, Ogun, and other regions of the country. In response to the public outcry, the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, ordered a forensic investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s untimely demise.

Following the IGP’s directive, Idowu Owohunwa, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, assembled a ten-member team, including a pathologist, tasked with the Exhumation of Mohbad’s remains and conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of his death.
