Addressing the conferees at the just concluded NBA-AGC, which was held at the M.K.O. Abiola National Stadium Abuja, the NBA President, Y.C. Maikiau, SAN, reiterated the need for selfless services to the Association by all elected National Officers.

According to him, presenting yourself for election into any of the National Offices of the Association is voluntary as no one has ever been forced to accept such a position against his/her wish. He further stated that it makes no sense to assume such an office and then turn around to complain that you no longer have time for your own work. Speaking further on attempts to rip off the Association by some of the elected National Officers, including the 3rd Vice President, he informed the conferees that these officers stayed behind in a hotel for over two weeks without any authorization or justification, incurred humongous bills on accommodation, feeding and per diem at #30,000 per day for each person and dumped the invoices on the Association but he declined approval.

Perhaps this may be the reason for the discordant tunes they sing. The NBA President insists that nobody will get his approval to live off the Bar Practicing Fees of Nigerian Lawyers, all in the name of being a National Officer of the Nigerian Bar Association.
